Two, Four, Six, Eight! How Do You Know Your Kids Are Straight?

i always hear ppl questioning whether or not gayness is acquired or is it embedded in ppl. its deffenitely not a gene. and i dont believe one is born with the tendency, we r straight by nature ppl!

i believe in this too...but some argue this wholeheartedly and support their argument with lots of evidences of real life stories!

do u think it's related to the way kids are raised or situations they've been through, like getting sexually harrased?!!

i believe kaman enu el mawdoo3 este3ded..mitlo mitel kteer ashya2 bihal denyeh...ya3ni not all those who get harrased will eventually end up being not straight..

mayous: ma howeh hal este3ded ppl argue inno genetic and i dont believe in that. bas i guess ppl with weak faith, and low self esteem are more prone to react to sexual harassment by flipping over to the other side so to speak so they wont experience any memory triggering fits..

I think the gay lobby promotes the genetic angle so that they can use it as a defense. "It's not my fault, I'm built that way, so don't ask me to change." That said, I have "gaydar" that is reasonably accurate. I have seen children as young as six who I pegged as being gay, through their movements, their interactions with others, and even their body build. This is before they even really have any sexual identity. Later it turned out that they WERE gay. That does not prove that it is genetic, but it indicates to me that homosexuality is not completely a learned behavior. It could be an environmental influence, for example, like too much chemical estrogen (pollutants). It could be a mutation, which is not necessarily carried forward genetically.

And even if it turns out to be genetic, it is mostly a self-terminating gene, because procreation is much less likely. ;-)

I believe that humans are quite flexible in the way they can be brought up. Environment has the upper sway over how a child turns into an adult. One of the most important traits that sets humans apart from the rest of the animal kingdom is how weak, helpless and yet more flexible the human infant in comparison to those of animals. This gives the family and the larger society a huge leverage on shaping the character and the behavior of individuals. If homosexuality happened to be socially acceptable, like in ancient Greece or the Western World, then you are opt to see a large percentage of people turning into homosexuality. The matter will not be then of great relevance as discussed here since it is non-issue.

Homosexuality is not a disease to be classified as acquired or genetic; it’s a preference or an inclination. What leads a person to be gay could be one or a combination of physical, environmental and social factors. What really interests me is the reaction to homosexuality; disgust and fear! Why are people so afraid of it and try to “fix” those who are gay?? I don’t suppose it’s the issue of procreation since there is no real danger of the human race becoming extinct and since for humans sex is mostly about pleasure! Is it a religious thing?? But even atheists and nonbelievers are homophobic! Is it a need to protect the “family” concept?? Or is it simply that people cannot quite accept any deviation from what is widely accepted as normal?? Personally, I am a little homophobic but it’s probably because I’ve never had any relations with gay people, except the girl who did my eyebrow piercing!

I believe we are born straight by nature too. It is definitely not a gene!

I have known many gay people, and even had a gay roommate twice (same guy, a co-worker - we got along - he was a good cook). Gay people don't bother me until they start demanding "rights" and special treatment, as a political lobby or a special-interest group, a group of "victims." Then I get annoyed, because when they shove it in your face, it's just plain obnoxious. ;-)

pru: i have no reaction really. i mean i dealt with gay men and women since school! i had to deal with them in group councelling as well. some donno why they're like that, some grew up being molested and ended up becoming gay, some just r curious! the men r mostly SO friendly and gr8 best friend material!!

im not homophobic, but i wonder what turned them around? since its not the nature of things.. part of it is religious, to me at least..
