The human brain starts working the moment you are born and never stops until you stand up to speak in public.

ya mis6ar George, ba7eb agolak, yeslam boGGak!
today i had to present a bit of a research report to a few clients, and these clients are japanese, and u keep hearing stories bout how japanese businessmen are articulate and disciplined and diligent and to-the-point, and u dont believe that until u come face to face with em! id say intimidating! il muhem, since i had the flu last week, and a pretty bad one too, i had basically spread my germs to everyone in the office and the analyst that was supposed to present had lost his voice over the weekend, so it came down to me  and for those who accuse women of never shutting up, i say give em a bit of public speaking and that shud do the trick!
i cudnt say one sentence, no scratch that, one PHRASE that made sense! i was talking way too fast and my voice was way too low and i cud feel the sweat beads forming on every mm square of my face..! now that im writing it down im laffing in retrospect as their identical japanese faces with jaws dropping and eyes bamboozled stared at me! lol i hate public speaking! i mean if i know these guys, like say in a class, uni lecture or some training where i got to interact with my audience, im perfectly fine! even awesome (yes and humble) but ppl who i meet for the first time? its disastrous! i keep hearing that the best way to speak in public without being that anxious and nervous is to picture everyone naked, but it just DINT HELP @ ALLLLL!! lol

9offi 3a janeb, this is my field :-o:
The key rule for speaking in public is big P: Practice, practice, then practice..
Present in front of the mirror b4 u go public, use a timer, and even better: tape yourself..
One can make a real fool of him/her self with unprepared speeches..
To deal with audience, the beginners tip is to keep your eyes moving on a horizontal line on the back wall, this way everyone will think you're looking at him.
In my first presentation I had about 40 attendees, most of them hindi/pakistani, I was unprepared kaman, so I talked super fast, flipping the slides super fast, my face was red like a tomato, and I was sure everybody in the room can hear my heart beating!
The good news is that you don't look as terrible as you think u do :)
Hitler was picturing them as trees...
and was confining him self that no one understood that issue better than him...
it worked for me
that man is a genius
well, good luck i cant add more than
al ma3alem Adoodh
lol matoot.
Hitler as cruel and ruthless as he is, was a very gifted public speaker. It's because confidence is very important for public speaking, and arrogance is just an extreme form of confidence.
I find that if you want a good public speaker, you should look for a good liar.
adoosh: in6alaqet bashuf lol
7abbeit the "eyes shud be moving on a horizontal line on the back wall" bit.. 5edaa3 basari :D
matout: i toot hink he's a genius.. and personally i dont think he is THAT bad of a person/leader either.. anyway. i'll try the tree bit next time, altho i sincerely wish i am not asked next time to present anything! ughhh
qabbani: thank u
hani: hmm, the same '7ekmeh' goes for wanting to find good marketing/sales ppl! as i said b4, il tu2ul mish san3a, lying is!
I don't think picturing everyone naked could help, because you would either look away after a while, blush, or stare at them in a manner that makes them feel uneasy.
But looking at the wall helps alot. Good Idea.
I deliver training a lot, and the main thing is to know your material. If I'm nervous, I focus on the clock on the wall at the back of the room. But I'm almost never nervous. After all, they are there to learn from me. As your audience was there to learn from you. The trick is, slow down, take a breath, and make eye contact with someone who seems to be paying attention to you. Hold their gaze, smile, and pretend that you are having a personal conversation with them, to the exclusion of the others. Try that with each sentence, or paragraph, or slide, moving your gaze from person to person, and the stage fright should dissipate.
But I would not recommend emulating Hitler for any reason. ;-) Perhaps Winston Churchill, or Franklin D Roosevelt's fireside chats. Both men projected confidence even when they did not feel it. As you can. Congratulations on your presentation! I'm certain you did better than you think.
yasmine: welcome to my corner :)
inno imagine then naked so the nervousness wud disappear, not in a manner where one is getting excited lol
marv: well ur a leo, u cant get nervous! (i just realized that ur a monkey too)
well the material was alien to me, i had just read it the morning of the presentation, like an hour before we went in.. so it was kinda diff to get very familiar with it..
thanks! i hope so :D
